La Vie qui bat in Montreal less than two weeks from now

Only a few days are left before the presentation of La Vie qui bat at Salle Pierre-Mercure at the Centre Pierre-Péladeau. Revived last year and recently performed in Japan and in France, this unique event will again be offered to Montreal audiences on February 18 and 19, 2011, when it opens the international Montreal/New Music festival. On this occasion, the 10 company dancers will be accompanied by the musicians of the percussion ensemble Sixtrum under the direction of Walter Boudreau.

As journalist Olga Bibiloni of the Marseilles daily La Provence describes it: "The piece that the Canadian choreographer imagined for Drumming by Reich […] is all power and restraint. A fascinating balance in the total mastery of movement, down to its most intensive repetition. […] The whole is very strong." (June 18, 2010)

Onde de choc returns to Europe in March

The success of Ginette Laurin’s latest creation, Onde de choc, is unequivocal. After its acclaimed premiere in Montreal’s Festival TransAmériques last May, the work enchanted audiences in Marseilles, Dresden, Nuremberg, and Frankfort. In Marseilles, journalist Patrick Merle described it as "a new jewel signed Ginette Laurin" (La Provence, July 6, 2010). Critics’ comments on its presentation in Nuremberg included: "The experiment conducted here is amazingly exciting, highly aesthetic." (Nürnberger Nachrichten, October 18, 2010).

Onde de choc goes on a new European tour this March. The piece will be have its Austrian premiere at Tanzquartier Wien (TQW) in Vienna on March 4 and 5; this will be followed by performances in Germany at fabrik Potsdam on the 11th and 12th and at Theater Im Pfalzbau in Ludwigshafen on the 15th, and finally, Onde de choc’s Scottish premiere will take place at Glasgow’s New Territories Festival on March 19th.
