Traccia and Coppia at the InShadow International Festival of Video, Performance, and Technologies in Lisbon, Portugal

The short films Traccia et Coppia, both directed by Oana Suteu from an original idea by Ginette Laurin, will be shown at the 3rd edition of the InShadow International Festival of Video, Performance, and Technologies in Lisbon, Portugal. The festival, which runs from December 7 to 11, 2011, offers dynamic, engaged programming. Built upon an original concept that brings together diverse artistic disciplines, InShadow promotes meetings between the languages of video and film, dance, and performance, exploring experimental narration, techniques, and aesthetics.

The two short films were selected for their high cinematographic and choreographic quality from among 50 productions from 34 countries. Made in 2004, the two films explore in turn the concept of the memory of movement and the theme of the double. For more information on the festival, click here

Ginette Laurin's Sacre du printemps heaped with praise by critics

Ginette’s Laurin new version of Sacre du printemps was received exceptionally well in Nancy, France, when it played to full houses at the Opéra national de Lorraine from October 23 to 29. Audiences adored the work from beginning to end, showing their appreciation with a greater degree of enthusiasm with each night. Didier Hemardinquer’s review in L’Est Républicain was unequivocal: “The Sacre du printemps is a volcano made to erupt by Stravinsky’s pulsating music. Ginette Laurin and all her performers knew how to propel the work to fiery incandescence.” (Nancy, October 25, 2011).

This special commission by the CCN – Ballet de Lorraine and the Opéra national de Lorraine, presented in collaboration with the Orchestre symphonique et lyrique de Nancy, brought together 25 dancers and 70 musicians under the baton of Tito Muñoz.
